no questions here. just wanted to say nice job in your interview. it was important to get the word out that paleo isn’t a historical re-enactment.
Robb Wolf says
Thanks chuck!
Bill says
It was awesome to see this on Nightline. Impressed and proud to be a Paleo devotee. Who was that sitting to your left at the dinner table and which restaurant was that? Thanks for doing it!!
Big Chris says
No more six listeners…lol
Brendan says
there will always be six listeners to me.
Robb Wolf says
Zactly!
Jeff says
Glad to see you guys getting some new press, they say there is no such thing as bad publicity. With that said though, it always irks me a bit watching segments like that and feeling as if it is being down with the comedic style of a daily show skit, like it is some kind of joke. Yeah, the experts have a hard time debunking natural meats, veggies, fruits and functional exercise, yet they still seem to play it down as a cult fad. And I noticed that ‘certified nutritionist’ getting her jab in about just as long as you don’t eat too much fat. It really does feel like the world is upside down sometimes and that we should be having a news segment on all these weird people who eat food produced my machines and watch projected images all day…
John says
“we should be having a news segment on all these weird people who eat food produced my machines and watch projected images all day…”
EXACTLY!!!
Peter says
Totally agree with Jeff. Great to hit the masses and I like everyone thought you and Art came across really well, but the angle they chose was the obvious caveman/Flintstones/cult one which the mainstream media seem to love. Felt it needed a bit more nitty-gritty on the health angle and less of the meat fetish. I know you and Art would have spoken extensively on the subject but the producers again went for easy angle instead of addressing the real issues. But still, like Jeff said, no such thing as bad publicity. Paleo… it’s a big wheel turning slow and it would have picked up a nice bit of momentum last night.
Robb Wolf says
We covered a ton on health, science, autoimmunity. If we’d had some slow news days the whole piece would have run. Damn Charlie Sheen, damn Middle East ;0)
Lacey says
Jeff, thanks for pointing out their “qualified experts” (‘certified nutritionist’). I am in a didactic program for dietetics at Fresno State (one of 2 schools in CA that offer a DPD), and I learned from day one if there’s not “R.D.” (registered dietitian) at the end of there name than just keep walking…or in this case, stop listening. It drives me crazy when these people are called EXPERTS!! As a paleo eater, I can honestly say I have never felt better about the way feel and function on a daily basis since I have stopped eating grains, wheat, dairy and most starches. But some “nutrition experts” would just call that sacrilegious…sometimes I feel like I’m getting myself into an uphill battle, but it also makes me excited to try to help people with their individual dietary needs.
Robb Wolf says
Right on Lacey!!
Keith says
Hey Robb, I missed the segment, is there anywhere we can see it?
Thanks!
Keith says
Never mind, I clicked the link. Thanks for the amazing work you do!
Julie says
What a great segment! You did really well Robb. You’re a natural!
Jason says
Way to go Robb. That was legit. Let us know when Norcal is gonna open a sister Socal location. 😉
Talar says
I second this…SoCal location!! 🙂
Drywall says
Great interview. I’d like to hear more about which types of tequila are and are not acceptable. This is a topic near and dear to my heart. Any insight?
Andy says
Good question. I believe all (most?) tequila is made with agave, which is very high in fructose, which as most paleos’ are aware, is not good. Does the fermentation transform enough of it into alcoholic goodness to make it acceptable?
Robb Wolf says
All the way to ethanol
Which us nit “healthy” but…
Richard McCollum says
I watched last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I felt they did a reasonable fair story given it’s brevity and presented both you and Art in a respectable, favorable light.
Other than the dietitians’ “lean meat” and “not too much fat” comments and using the “Cave Man” reference, I thought it was very unbiased and fair.
Congratulations on the media exposure and best wished for further success!
Lisa says
Love that paleo is in the news. Now if we could get it to replace the Charlie Sheen nonsense that is dominating the news right now, wow, the lives that could be changed!
Chuck Charbeneau says
As a Chuck, I accept your thanks for all Chucks.
Chuck Charbeneau says
Heh, your reply to chuck showed up before his post. It was confusing.
Rebecca says
To all of you who are interested in the Paleo lifestyle, I would like you to know that I am a 42 year old woman who is a wife, teacher, mother and live on a farm. I went Paleo on January 22, 2011. I am feeling better than I have in a long time. My symptoms of IBS have dramatically decreased and oh by the way, I have lost around 12 lbs in six weeks. I am now 5’6 and a pretty fit 128lbs.
I suggest you read Robb’s book and educate yourself as you delve into this lifestyle because as we all know, knowledge is power. Once you read the books, you can’t help but be convinced that this is the lifestyle for you.
For those of you thinking that there is no way you can give up sugar and grains, you really can. I was a sugar junky and it showed in the flab on my belly. Most of that flab is now gone in just six weeks. You really can do it. Just follow Robb’s advice and you can be the fit person you have always wanted to be.
Thanks to Robb and Sarah over at everydaypaleo, I have been motivated and successful in my efforts to live Paleo.

Brandon Nolte says
Ahh, I wish they gave you a bigger TV spot. But I’ll be happy with any mainstream attention this “movement” is getting. Ever since reading your book I’ve been trying to spread the word (to those that are open to listening), and my dad has been able to finally lose a little weight. He’s still very much in shape, but it always seems to be those last few pounds that are tough.
Also, I feel like John Berman really wanted to paint the picture that people who follow this sort of diet/lifestyle are crazy and probably running around in loin cloths and tackling wild animals with their bare hands. But great job negating those attempts. You always have such a practical perspective… ie indoor plumbing isn’t very “paleo” but that doesn’t mean we’ll go back to the alternative.
Trevor says
Now, there is some cool news to watch.
Ron says
“If you’re choosing lean meats and they’re watching the fat…”. Robb, why didn’t you drag that chick off into a cave and club some sense into her?
Robb Wolf says
Because it could have been SO MUCH WORSE. We’ll get another big media hit like that but the’ll get a T-collin Campbel thumping vegan and they will eviscerate us.
Squatchy says
I was pleasantly surprised with that Nightline spot. Great job guys. The only thing I really had qualms with was the nutritionist talking about limiting fat, but other than that it was really pretty good. That meat and those ribs in the restaurant clip look amazing..drool….
Lee Cochran says
Thrilled to see the Paleo lifestyle making waves! I read your book and have listened to every podcast so far Robb. In a little less than two months I’ve leaned down significantly, sleep through the night, have more energy than ever, my moods have elevated tremendously, and the IBS symptoms I struggled with for years have completely vanished. It’s fascinating to me that something so simple can be so effective.
Thanks for changing my life for the best Robb, we appreciate all that you do for us!
Dillon says
Nice interview Robb, you looked badass. You’re definately one Biochem major that I wouldn’t want to meet in a dark alley. Now go convert Oprah!
Jamie Guined says
Congrats Robb!!
Mike says
Soooo jealous you guys were at Fogo de Chao!!
I hope I look half as good as Art when I am in my 70s… Perfect example of practicing what you preach.
Great Job, guys!!
Tane says
Awesome- PS on “Nightline”! Now I can say that “I was into Paleo/Robb Wolf before it/he went commercial/mainstream”- I’ll look like a trendsetter.
Don’t let the fame change you too much, Robb! Delivering Paleo Solution Seminars in a flared, rhinestone-studded jumpsuit and sunglasses is as far as it should go.
Robb Wolf says
Fame does not appear to be changing me much. Rhinestones annoy keystone…so….keeping things mellow.
Juliet says
I am grateful that you specifically mentioned Computer Programmers in your definition of “everybody”. Just because we’re nerds doesn’t mean we don’t want to look and feel good too.
Matt says
Hi Robb,
Big fan of The Paleo Solution and the podcast. I have food allergies to both fish and tree nuts. Do you have any recommendations to keep my omega 3 to omega 6 ratio close to paleo standards?
Thanks,
Matt
Robb Wolf says
Just avoid n-6 sources, get some GF meat. Algae sups are solid also.
Vegard says
My girlfriend and I started eating paleo about six weeks ago. We’ve both never felt better. I’ve lost 15 pounds and am leaner and stronger now at 43 than I was at 25. My girlfriend has lost about 20 to 25 pounds. We’re both former vegetarians. I never felt this good eating grains and no meats. My energy throughout the day is better and my moods, which used to be up and down, have stabilized a lot. Also, my teeth and gums have improved, as has my digestion. I wish I would have tried this a long time ago.
Chris Fox says
Great piece, Robb! Thanks for coming to CFSBK, and for helping folks to laugh off the loin-clothed paleo nutters out there. Hope you and Nicki make it back to Brooklyn sometime soon.
John says
Congrats amigo!
It is great to see you and Art mentioned in the sentenced.
Keep the great work.
John
Robb Wolf says
Thanks man!
pixel says
just had to wonder, does that place serve grass fed meat?
Robb Wolf says
I doubt it, although apparently the lamb WAS GF. It would not be tough to change that whole menu to GF, especially in NY.
Joy says
Nice job, Robb. I almost choked when Art DeVany was told that he looks great for a 73 year old. He looks better than most 20 year olds! He was very gracious. I am 54 yrs. old, paleo for 2 years and a Crossfitter for 1 year. I am in better shape than I have been in my whole life. I get those comments too. I know people mean well. They just don’t get it.
Thanks for your continued efforts in keeping us informed.
JoelG says
Let’s just get Charlie Sheen to go paleo. That’s the answer!
Robb Wolf says
I think he’s gone beyond Paleo. Way beyond.
