Having trouble with the Paleo diet?

How to use these guides
On the main page, select what area you need help with:

Then follow the easy-to-read flowchart to help troubleshoot or structure your individual approach to the Paleo diet.

I downloaded these today but am a bit in the dark about some of the terms used. For instance under Fueling for Endurance it says fasted +10-20g BCAA – what does that mean? I’ve never fasted except for bloodwork. Then in the third block, first column what is the 17-19 claories, 50-100 g carbs, below the .8g protein? Is that the amounts per food item?

I’m guessing you ‘fast’ every night – sleeping constitutes an overnight fast. The 17-19 calories and .8g protein is per pound of body weight. The 50-100 g of carbs is the amount for the entire day. Hope that helps!

Indeed I do fast every night. So then I’m going to assume if I want I have a target of 170lbs then I’d multiply that 17-19 cals by the 170 as I would the .8g of protein? Thanks.

Looking back at these after reading part 3 of Thoughts on Low Carb… I’m thinking of playing with BCAA’s to supplement my training (esp. because I’m having trouble recovering). Any recommendations for the most “Paleo” brand of BCAA’s (as I try hard to keep the junk out of my mouth and many of these contain artificial sweeteners)? Would buying capsules be as effective as a powder that can be made into a liquid form?

You will then be sent an email to confirm your email address and your subscription to the newsletter.
