30 Day Guide to the Paleo Diet
Want some extra help? Have you been trying Paleo for a while but have questions or aren’t sure what the right exercise program is for you? Or maybe you just want a 30-day meal plan and shopping list to make things easier? We’ve created a getting started guide to help you through your first 30 days.
Markus says
Interesting to hear about your experience with the CGM. I have similar blood sugar spikes when eating grains such as buckwheat, millet, oats and rice. If I do so its not uncommon for my blood sugar levels to rise upwards of 160-180 mg/dl and remain elevated for 3-4 hours.
Like you I am also of Scandinavian heritage, living in Sweden. Additionally, all of my elder relatives have had Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes.
Do you know your ApoE genotype? I’m homozygous ApoE4.
Robb Wolf says
I am 3/3, so in theory I have a bit of breathing room in that regard.
Kirill says
Robb, the Israely research didn’t measure insulin from what I recall. So, wouldn’t the low blood glucose after certain carby meals imply a much higher insulin spike? It’s been shown that adding significant fat to a carby meal lowers the bg but also activates GIP storage peptide and jacks up insulin higher and longer than the same amount of carb sans fat. Paul Jaminet thinks that this is fine and that the insulin can just go about performing other functions in the body. What do you think?
Hugh says
How do you do with plantains?
Robb Wolf says
I FEEL good with plantains but have not checked my blood glucose response.
