We’re doing something a little different this week. You’ll have to wait until next week for a new podcast episode. But instead of doing a “Best of” episode this week, we decided to share this talk I did for the UCSF Evolutionary Medicine Conference last year. It was a huge honor to participate in the event. I think you guys might enjoy this, especially if you’re in the medical field.
30 Day Guide to the Paleo Diet
Want some extra help? Have you been trying Paleo for a while but have questions or aren’t sure what the right exercise program is for you? Or maybe you just want a 30-day meal plan and shopping list to make things easier? We’ve created a getting started guide to help you through your first 30 days.

Wow. What a great presentation. Thank you so much for going down this rabbit hole for the betterment of humanity. We are in deep doo doo and need someone to show us the way out. I listened to it once and am listening to it again.
Speaking of rabbit holes, I am learning all that I can about cortisol right now. May I ask what is your N of 1 on this topic in relation to MCTs and ketosis? Is seems like Harvard invented MCTs decades ago in order to help burn victims. They learned that when MCTs enter the liver they rapidly convert the glycogen to water vapor and co2 leaving the brain signalling for glycogen that is when cortisol comes to the rescue. Only problem I see in that theory is cortislol is recruited when glycogen liver stores drop to 55 which is after glucogon is used to start creating glycogen. Have I got it Bass Ackwards again?
Thank you…… and keep dropping hammers on their feet.

Thanks for all the great info, as always! Right after listening to this I listened to Paleo Magazine Radio episode 139 about whether humans should eat plants, and I had to laugh at the premise that because plants have toxins, they don’t want to be eaten, right after hearing your comment about how anything that doesn’t have toxins, claws or teeth becomes is called a snack!

I listened to this on my archaic mp3 player by using http://www.listentoyoutube.com (just one option).
It has occurred to me that the ACA’s imposed ceiling on profit margins gives insurance companies incentive to further inflate the cost of the healthcare system.
Also, it seems like the a physician’s biggest fear is the liability lawsuit, so, it would be logical for a physician to defer liability to something with deeper pockets, such as a pharmaceutical company.

Awesome podcast Robb, I’ll have to add some of your info to my Wine & Weight Loss power point I use at the office. I have to bribe patients and then get them drunk to listen to this “Paleo” stuff. Finally got the lectin / leptin gig, funny how you can hear something a 100 x’s but not catch it till one day the light bulb comes on.

Fantastic talk! We need more presentations like this! I am currently working on putting an ancestral health / evolutionary medicine talk together to bring this more into the spotlight in Australia. This is perfect timing for this being posted.

Robb, thank you so much for doing this episode. It is the exact kind of distillation of your immense knowledge that I have been looking to share with people for years now. I’ve read your book and listened to your podcast for 3+ years now, but I’ve struggled with the ability to simplify all of the key concepts into something easily “digestible” (no pun intended) for my friends & family who want to know the whats and whys of this lifestyle. Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

Where can I find more information on the program you did with firefighters and police. I am married to a career FF and we reside in the “stroke capital” of the world.
Thanks
