Three years ago, I was extremely frustrated. I could not lose a pound. I was a cardiac rehab nurse and thought I should have the answers. I was limiting calories and exercising. I was aware I was hypothyroid though they said I was ”borderline”, I had all the symptoms. I was weighing what I weighed when I gave birth to my five children. I was not happy.
This young guy, who worked with me, suggested he could fix my problem in 30 days. I was skeptical, but desperate! I knew I could do anything for 30 days. What was there to lose?
I had so many health issues. I felt old. I had adrenal fatigue, self-diagnosed fibromyalgia, and back issues. All of these went away when I went paleo.
In the first weeks, I detoxed. I was never hungry. I didn’t weigh, measure, or count anything. I ate as much of the acceptable foods as I wanted. I lost 35 pounds in the first seven or eight months. I really didn’t pay a lot of attention to the weight loss because it didn’t feel like I was depriving myself at all! It is really rather easy. I have had no problem maintaining my weight loss…which was never the case with previous weight loss.
If, I get lazy and start eating gluten, my aches, pains, and fatigue come back. But, at least I know what to do about it.
My problem is that I no longer believe in traditional medicine. I need a career change.
My family is believing in paleo. I have a daughter with an autoimmune disorder and she is really having trouble getting it to work for her like it did me. She does believe she has food issues now. Hoping she can tweak it to have the same success as I have.
I have run a few 10k races and hope to do a half marathon before my next birthday. I just turned 58 and certainly feel a whole lot better than I did 3 years ago!
I believe in paleo! I feel bad that so many people are deceived by modern medicine and just keep taking more drugs! We must get out the word.
