Hey everyone! I’m actually making pretty damn good progress on the book but I have set a personal deadline of April 4 for the damn thing. In an effort to focus I will not be responding to email other than consults which Chrissy usually books. I will also just be ok’ing comments and not responding to them. this absolutely KILLS me as this is the fun stuff surrounding the blog but it’s gotta happen if I’m going to get that book finished. keep posting and sending questions and we will hit those in the podcasts. I also have about 5 partially written blogposts I will string out over the coming weeks.
Steven says
Awesome! Book!
Jake says
Dude, do what youve got to do. Youll be able to help a lot more folks with the book release than answering blog posts one by one (especially since Ill probably be buying 7 copies, Im selfish). 30 days absence from the blog is EASY. Thanks for helping change my life man. Love the podcasts.
lisa says
If that’s what it takes to get this book completed……so be it. We are eagerly waiting. :o)
Ben Faber says
Keep up the hard work. Can’t wait to read the book!
AmyP says
Quick question….I know I asked this before but can’t find where you responded. I have PCOS and just ordered some iodine pills. The bottle says to take one a day (225mcgs) but wondered what your recommended dosage was? Thanks!
Robb Wolf says
Amy-
150 mcg, so take one every other day.
Bryan L says
Understood. You know how anxious we all are for this book, so I think we can all cope while you stay on-task and complete the home stretch.
Jeff says
Hell yeah! Make it happen Robb.
AmyP says
Thank you for answering my selfishness even after you posted about not answering questions anymore…LOL!!
Can’t WAIT for the book!
Mike D says
Good luck Robb, we’re all looking forward to the book! Stay Focused and caffeinated.
Ryan Murakoshi says
Anyone that can answer this for me, any good sardine brands out there, that I can actually eat and get down? I can stomach everything, but for some reason sardines get harder to go down after the first one? If anyone knows of any with a better packaged flavor, of course without all the additives making it that way? Or any suggestions on gettin those little buggers down the hatch?
Garth says
I think we need to sponsor a Lou Mars like event for you Robb. We will set you up with your Mac, feed/water you well and get you writing non-stop until it’s done!!!! 500 more hours to go!!! Can’t wait!
Robb Wolf says
Garth-
That would be AWESOME!
Will Davidson says
I promise I will buy your book. I hope this motivates you.
Ryan Murakoshi says
Hey Robb, Sorry to interrupt the book progress, but thought you might enjoy your celebrity status of youtube and animation. And even though the video calls one guy couch, I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be “coach”.

Here is the newest study to put to bed on the podcast
“Low-carb diets increase LDL cholesterol”
http://www.nationalpost.com/life/health/story.html?id=721de4a6-b29f-428f-826a-bee44097c416
I can’t seem to find the actual study online, but my pseudo-science guess is we see a decrease in TRIG, uptick in HDL and the density of the LDL is likely “large and fluffy.”
Justin says
I cannot wait for this book, man.
Keith McNeill says
Can’t wait to read it Robb, type faster!!
P3Christopher says
I am looking forward to the publishing of both books, take your time and put forth a good product that you can be proud of.
Thanks… listener number… unknown, but a fan none the less.
noah says
Robb, found this chart of supplements, an interesting way to display the data!

Robb Wolf says
Thanks Noah!
jamie@CFA says
Ben,
I would bet if you did find the study it would be skewed to favor the views of government and industry… Americans are running scared of LDL due to government propaganda distributed through the FDA, USDA,AMA and ADA… Identifying small and large particles as relevant is unfortunately only beneficial to those of us who have already had our eyes opened.
Karl says
Here is a link to the abstract of the study that Ben mentioned:
http://www.ajcn.org/cgi/content/abstract/91/3/578?maxtoshow=&hits=10&RESULTFORMAT=&author1=Hernandez&fulltext=%22low+carbohydrate%22&andorexactfulltext=and&searchid=1&FIRSTINDEX=0&sortspec=relevance&volume=91&resourcetype=HWCIT
I like this paragraph from the news article:
“The low-carb group also showed greater increases in their levels of free fatty acids, which are released into the blood when the body breaks down stored fat. High levels of free fatty acids make it more difficult for the liver to store glucose, which in turn ups sugar levels in the blood. Consistently high sugar levels define diabetes.”
Are they implying that the low carb group had HIGHER blood sugar levels? That wasn’t mentioned in the abstract and I am too cheap to buy the article.

Thanks Robb – can’t wait for the book to come out!

Ryan- why do you want to forcefeed yourself sardines if you don’t like them? They are not magic, you can get plenty of omega-3 and good fish nutrition from other seafood in your diet. Not trying to be a dick, just curious.
Good luck with the book Robb- I think so much new information and reflection has been going on lately within the ‘paleo’ camp that I’m looking forward to seeing your current take on everything.

Coach Wolf!
Not to be a pain in the ass but that link for the Hoboken NJ comments section is still out. Is it gone forever?? 🙁
Robb Wolf says
Chris-
Comments ae nto working on ANY of the events posts yet…waitign for an update from WordPress.
Chad says
Hey Robb thanks for the website I’m learning tons and look forward to the book!
A couple of questions for anyone willing to answer:
When eating the Paleo way as advocated by Robb, is it important to have carbs with every meal? or is having a meal (or day) entirely of meat okay?
Also, is it important to eat a certain amount of calories everyday, or just eat when you’re hungry?
I am trying to reduce bodyfat.
Thanks in advance.

Wondering what you think of this study which looked at omega-3 supplementation in performance cyclists and their biomarkers for inflammation:
https://vpn.lib.ucdavis.edu/pubmed/,DanaInfo=www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov+19910654?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum&ordinalpos=16
Also wanted to mention some great work has been done by Dr. Hill (veterinarian) in racing Greyhounds in terms of high fat diets and racing performance. This study http://avmajournals.avma.org/doi/abs/10.2460/ajvr.2000.61.1566 showed high fat and protein improved racing, while this study http://avmajournals.avma.org/doi/abs/10.2460/ajvr.2001.62.440 showed increased protein alone did not. Therefore, they suspect its the high fat component which causes the improvement in performance but an adequate study has not been performed to support this yet. I realize humans are different than dogs, but I thought the results were intriguing none-the-less.

lauren-
Great stuff, thanks!
Ryan Harris says
Hurry up and finish your book!!!!
I’m going to need some new reading material soon and I’m running out of things I want to read.
Koshi says
Good point.
I have been switching over to more grass fed anyways, so dropping on the omega 6 intakes, and cut out all grains etc. Actually just now doing a combination of liquid 3’s and then capsule 3’s when I don’t have my liquid available. But like I said, just trying to cut back on the dietary 6’s so that I am not having to load up on as many 3’s. Thanks for the insight though, not dick at all.

Hi Robb–I know you are busy and appreciate all you do.
This study says the cyclists took 8 ONE gram fish oil pills a day.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19034030?itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum&ordinalpos=65
How does that translate to someone wanting to improve their athletic performance? I know the answer–try it for 30 days see how it goes. Will do!
I am looking to be a stronger runner–am doing a planned program of track workouts to increase my strength and stamina. I eat a ton of meat and fish and as many raw vegetables as I want. I feel great—-but know I still can improve as an athlete.
Again–your advice, website and podcasts have been an amazing resource. Thank you,

Aneta says
Hi Rob,
Love your podcase, LOVE it! My husband and I consider this along with your website our little “Bible” constantly reforcing why Paleo is just so great! I have a question…I just listened to your Podcast Episode 15 (I’m a little bit behind) on the lady who was 5.1″ at 106lbs and was eating roughly 1200 calories. I’m 5.5″, 135lbs, been doing Crossfit for about 1.5 years as well as running (roughly 25 miles/week).
My question is…I find that I comfertably (without feeling hunger) about 1200-1500 calories a day, and that’s including days where I run 9-11 miles. I’ve also noticed that when I ate more I was I guess lifting more, but I wasn’t running, so I don’t know if it’s because I run now and burn muscle, or if it’s because I’m eating too little. Does that make sense? I wouldn’t mind eating more, but I’m just not hungry and I don’t want to eat mindlessly. Example: Breakfast: Coffe with So Delicioius coconut milk, 3 eggs, .5 cup of Pistacchio nuts. Lunch: 6 oz flounder & two cups of spinach, Dinner: 3 chicken thighs with .5 cup squash. In between I do eat fruit, so 1 apple, orange, banana…
Any suggestions how to up my calorie intake without feeling like all I do is eat?
Thanks from your faithful follower…
Aneta

I have a friend who has been to a fertility specialist, and was told that her and her husband would be unable to conceive because he damaged his fertility by prolonged of steroid use. Is this something that could possibly be changed by going gluten-free dairy free as well, or is does this not fall under the fertility improvements that can come along with a paleo meal plan?
Chris Dwan says
Oh Robb! I finally got up the guts to ask you a question, come to the site and the first thing I see.. you’re not going to answer questions! Ok, ok, I’m looking forward to your book too, so get on with it.
Here’s the question – I was doing the zone for a while and lost weight, improved performance etc.. then I got into your stuff and started going lower carb and finally cut out the grains and dairy.
The weird thing is that when I started reducing my carbs, I also started to break out into hives and itching like crazy at night. Eventually I was itching during the day too. I thought maybe it was a food allergy but I tried excluding all kinds of foods and didn’t seem to find anything that did it for me.
My current assumption is that it’s a Herxheimer reaction. I’m hoping that’s what it is anyway. It seems like it’s the worst on days where I have the least carbs. I’m trying right now to have a little oatmeal each morning to see if that will reduce the severity of the itching. Antihistamines help but they knock me out or make me feel really crappy (Claritin)..
Am I on the right track?
Robb Wolf says
chris-
give me a food log.

Any chance of pre-purchasing the first run of books? I’d like to purchase 10 from your first run.
Plus, I’m an extremely fast reader. I’d be happy to sign an NDA and do some proofing for you.
You’ve changed my life already, would enjoy a chance to give back.

Since you’re just giving these the ok, I thought I’d share a cool coffee study I found about how it (caffeine) decreases pain felt during exercise by blocking adenosine. Further proof that coffee is in fact magic.
