As I read through the review copy of Practical Paleo I had a number of thoughts: 1) Wow, this is going to be a really useful book for a lot of people! 2) DAMN! I wish I laid out some of the material in my book, The Paleo Solution, the way that Diane did in her book! She’s making complex stuff, like poop and healing a leaky gut, easy to understand. 3) The food pictures make me hungry!
I’ve been researching and studying this Paleo concept for almost fifteen years and the evolution and reach of the information has been nothing short of remarkable. Years ago you had to hunt (and gather?) to find information on Paleo in general, to say nothing of how to alter your approach for specific problems such as gastrointestinal issues or autoimmunity.
People often come to me saying that Paleo worked for them, but they’re unsure of how to tread with loved ones—how to best help their Type 2 Diabetic mom, or their dad/friend/(insert other loved-one here) with a specific condition. While I’ve personally answered these questions for thousands of people through my own website, blog, podcast, and book, this book takes all of the concepts that we know will help people and provides clear plans, laid out in an easy-to-understand way. It takes the guesswork out of how to move forward and take your health into your own hands—from lifestyle to diet to smart supplementation. All this with amazing-looking recipes to boot!
Once, it was tough to find this information, and if you were fortunate enough to find what you needed, it was in a dry, unaesthetic format. Those days are gone. My good friend, Diane Sanfilippo, has made a work of art in Practical Paleo that is as useful as it is beautiful. Are you an athlete? Suffer from digestive distress? Been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition? Maybe you just want to live a long life and look good naked? Whatever your goals, Diane has done the heavy lifting by condensing the science and a lot of practical how-tos into bite-sized pieces.
You don’t need a pocket protector to read this book. In easy-to-understand language, you will learn the science behind the Original Human Diet and how it can unlock the door to better health. Science, recipes, customization, and beautiful, easy-to-read graphics — Practical Paleo has it all.
I am so excited for Diane’s book Practical Paleo. No more looking for breakfast options or wondering what to eat on an Autoimmune Paleo protocol…it’s all here.
Grab your copy
Folks, if you’re even a little bit interested in this book (which you should be by now!), I urge you to Grab your copy at Amazon or your favorite bookstore this week. You see, if we want to keep pushing Paleo into the mainstream view, we want to make our best, most valiant effort at getting another Paleo book onto the New York Times Bestseller list. So, some ways to do that include:
- grabbing a copy the first week it’s out (this week),
- posting a review to Amazon and Barnes & Noble’s websites when you get the book and look it over,
- posting to Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and any other social media you use about the book to keep some buzz going,
- sharing the info with as many people as will listen to you before they lock you up in a nuthouse.

A balanced diet may be the best medicine. I was eating too much good eats. But people consider that part of your job, you know? Eat. And I do!

I will get the book for all the reasons you mention (plus I like buying books:-) ) but I have to ask this question:
what is the new thing that this book will give me? More information? Better understanding? Higher motivation?
In all honesty, while it’s clear to me that there are still lots of unknown facts about the original human diet and its evolution and the effects of various nutrients on our health and performance and lots of solid research is needed, the more people talk and write on this topic, the more I have the feeling that they keep repeating the same stuff, without contributing anything new and many seemingly new things seem made up to attract attention.
And while I am absolutely sure that we should support every book on the paleo diet so that the concept gets popularized as much as possible, I believe that ‘internally’ a critical discussion is also necessary. Otherwise soon we won’t be able to tell the good stuff from the bad.
So I guess my question is, is this book a good Paleo diet book or is it good because it’s a Paleo diet book? 🙂
