Lou is still crushing it! He is always over 90 db, but those are his SLOW quiet songs. When Lou is playing a song he really likes its 100-110 or more. Previous Drum attempts (taking nothing away from these outstanding efforts) were NOT playing anywhere near this level. As a Coach I have been PISSED at Lou for playing this hard…it is damn hard on his body and incredibly fatiguing. The 1st two days were tough also in that Lou simply would not eat as he was so focussed on playing. This would put him into a potent calorie defecit that we had to really work to get Lou back up to speed. We rotate between BBQ tri-tip from a loal market, oranges and Paleo Brands meals, dark chocolate and nuts. Lots of electrolytes which I have fine-tuned the ratios in that to prevent neurological and muscular fatigue from mineral imbalances (LOTS of Pseudo-science in that stuff…learned it at Palmistry School…)
We’ve had people from over 250 countries watching and encouraging Lou via the live stream. If you can, PLEASE log into that stream and send Lou some energy…it really motivates him and the support staff. Please post this to your facebook and twitter. (UPDATE-Someone pointed out to me that the world only has 195 countries…I obviously read something wrong on the chat-stats. For my pride I’d like to delete this, but as a chronicle of how out of our minds we were…it’s pretty funny.)
I have never been awake this long or this much in my life…I need a nap!!

Awesome job man so cool that you are doing this!
side note… arent there only about 195 countries 🙁 in the world

Alec-
You are right! I was looking at something in the chat-stats…hmmm. I obviously goofed that. By about day 3 I was pretty delirious…I might have invented several countries there!
I just went back over there and saw the 47,000 views but I have no idea what I saw now…yeesh. Anyway, thanks for catching that.

Off topic, but I really need some help here. Ive been low carb paleo for the last few weeks, looking to rapidly change my body comp. Ive been Crossfitting pretty hard during that time, and (probably as a result of how hard) I just recently re-popped an old hernia I had. Anyway, it looks like Im going to be sedentary for awhile, and I want to do your “zone-skinning” method to keep losing fat even while i cant really exercise. Im normally a 17 blocker (when doing the zone), but with my activity level at “sedentary” Im at 11 blocks. Skinned, this comes out to be 11p/5c/29f.
My question generally is that Im afraid my body wont metabolize fat the same as it does when I am active. Is this too much fat for someone who is going to be limited to no exercise for awhile? If so, I will just continue the low carb paleo routine and hope that keeps shedding the fat away.
PS-Love the blog. Your helping more people than you know get their lives on track.

Vinnie-
i NEVER answer Zone block questions but…how much do you weigh? how lean are you? 11 blocks seems way too skinny on protein.

It seems like Lou is doing well in spite of your witch doctoring pseudo science.

Jeremy-
Well…we got him to 108.5 hrs. Pretty damn good considering he was still hammering those drums yesterday morning. He augured into the mtn-side about noon yesterday and was just on auto-pilot.
Yea that whole planning for his event, mapping out the demands…had it been an entirely random approach we would have made it for sure!

Rock on, Lou!!

Been watchin this from the start. Its incredible to see someone perform at such a high level for this amount of time. His training has obviously paid off!
Lou you are lucky to have such good trainers and support from a great community at Norcal and Chico.
Hope one day to get out to see you guys. You all Rock!!!

My gosh Lou…….absolutely impressive. What a testimony of an amazing team of trainers and athlete. Thanks for letting us take part in this experience. It was exciting and inspiring. Can’t even imagine……………

I am six foot, 205, and i would consider myself a little on the chubby side. According to Sears, if I am sedentary, I need 11 blocks-thats only 77g of protein. It sounded low to me too, but like i said, this hernia will put me out of commission for awhile. Id like to continue dropping fat while sedentary, but Im not sure which nutritional path would be optimal for this. Do you think modified zone could do it? or just simply unweighed paleo with low carb like Ive been doing?
Ive seen great results with low carb paleo, but Im not going to be training for at least five weeks. My main concern is whether the high level of fat Ive been taking in while crossfitting six times a week, will still be beneficial while Im recovering from surgery. Especially if i were to switch to a “skinned” version of the zone. That seems like a lot of fat for not being able to exercise.
Robb Wolf says
Vinny-Run those numbers again…sed is .7 I think you are running things way too low. The skinning is on task, delet carbs, add fat.

Congrats, Lou and NorCal SC!
It was amazing watching you over the last 5 Days. You guys worked your way to the outermost limits of human capacity and endurance and it was a fascinating and inspiring thing to see. Thanks for letting us all look on in admiration.
Way to Go Lou! Keep dropping those bombastically fantastic beats!

BohnamsFeet-
You were quite a shot in the arm! I’m working on a pretty detailed write-up but I can say this, Lou and all the staff attending to him left nothing on the table. We were only fractionally less exhausted than he was. What an amazing experience.
BF-Please do keep in touch.

Lou! Nice work! I miss the good ol’ days when you played with The Icons and The Pods. It’s great to see you’re doing well.
