30 Day Guide to the Paleo Diet
Want some extra help? Have you been trying Paleo for a while but have questions or aren’t sure what the right exercise program is for you? Or maybe you just want a 30-day meal plan and shopping list to make things easier? We’ve created a getting started guide to help you through your first 30 days.
Rob says
Scotty talked about having thyroid issues, then adding more carbs in (tubers, fruit) and having some good results. He also mentioned switching to very minimal red meat based on some blood work he had done, and was going to talk about that later, but it never came up. I’m curious to know what the blood work results were, i.e., related to Neu5Gc or? I couldn’t easily find anything on his FB or crossfit sites.
Kim says
I noticed that too…why avoid red meat? I don’t know if I appreciate bringing him on the podcast if this confusion is left unclarified. Completely flies in the face of what I have been learning thus far.

I’m certainly not a qualified nutritionist, and def. not a medical professional, so take this bit with a grain of salt:
The addition of carbs and fibers can often be viewed as helping the bowels move on a more regular schedule, helping to eliminate issues of constipation. The MMC (Migrating motor complex) is a natural process that happens during periods of fasting which allow the body to help cycle nutrients as well as pathogens through your digestive system. Fasting, meaning periods of 90-120 minutes even. I was on a very high protein diet for awhile, and had some major metabolic issues arise. After adding in some plant-based fiber, I noticed I had a lot more energy, and that I was also going to the restroom more regularly.
For my issues specifically, I’ve found that trying to interpret issues from the bowels and working my way from there has proven very beneficial.
