30 Day Guide to the Paleo Diet
Want some extra help? Have you been trying Paleo for a while but have questions or aren’t sure what the right exercise program is for you? Or maybe you just want a 30-day meal plan and shopping list to make things easier? We’ve created a getting started guide to help you through your first 30 days.
Great podcast!
I’m really curious about all of the different variations on babies acquiring their initial resident microbes.
Since we’ve learned that babies are not born sterile, how much does the microbial makeup differ in utero? What about babies born with an intact amniotic sac? How much does penicillin for intrapartum GBS prophylaxis affect the transfer of microbes? Can exclusive breastfeeding overcome pitfalls encountered during birth? How do standard infant bathing practices affect early microbial transfer (since vernix has immunological properties)?
Keep your eyes open for an upcoming podcast. I have an expert on gestational diabetes who talks at length about all of this.
I think a real benefit, that perhaps the team at Robbwolf.com could do, would be to compile a list of prebotic and probotic foods. I’m sure there are many lists like this and if anyone would like to share please do, but specifically one that could be sorted a couple different ways like in an excel spreadsheet.
The different sort categories could be include things like:
“Prebotic Level of Benefit” – high, moderate, low
“Probotic Level of Benefit” – high, moderate, low
“Preparation Type” cooking, raw, fermented
“Preparation Difficulty” – difficult, moderate, easy
“Typical Serving Size” 2oz, 1 gal, 1.5 lbs.
“Availability – Supermarket” – common, rare, seasonal
“Availability – Restaurants” – common, rare, seasonal
“Pre-prepared/off the shelf Availability” – yes, no
“Paleo” – Strict, Paleo plus dairy, AIP, non-paleo
“Fiber” – high, moderate, low
If one anyone knows of a list similar to that, please post it here.
Raw chicory, dandelion greens, Jerusalem artichoke, onion, garlic, leek
Hey Robb,
Another great interview! Absolutely grateful for your work & that of Dr. Perlmutter! Being a Dietitian in the Western Med (& Eastern) circles I actually have used Grain Brain as a list of valuable citations in my elevator pitches with Psychiatrists, MDs and other health professionals in terms of giving them an alternative perspective!
Anyway, I love the shift in your work towards sustainability. My partner & I run a Podcast & would love to chat with you at some point in the future on our show Canadian Minds on Health (see website link).
I recently began the Whole 30 and by default I have become obsessed listening and watching any Podcast or Documentary I can on food and the Paleo diet. I started listening to your Podcasts last week and have gone back all the way to Jan-February already. Although I have enjoyed and learned a lot in all of them, this is the first Podcast I have wanted to share, post and get everyone I know to listen to and hear all of the great information presented and the positive outcomes the use cases Dr. Perlmutter brought up.
I am excited to go back through ALL your episodes and hopefully read all these extra books and blogs all of your guests bring with them.
Thank you so much for having an interesting Podcast and guests!
Hi Robb,
In your most recent interview with Dr. Perlmutter, you mention a study were a certain exposure to bacteria created mice with no fear towards snakes… Can you provide the exact reference?
Thanks

Dr. P mentioned a new procedure where c-section babies are being swabbed by a sponge from the mother’s vaginal canal. Do you have a reference to this procedure that you could provide? It would be very helpful. Thank you!
I do not but I’ve had a lot of questions and will track it down.
