I’ll be attending the MovNat Expansion course July 20-24 in West Virginia. I am SERIOUSLY jazzed for this as the book will be off to the printer and I will get to be a student again.
I recently started doing BJJ again. Jits and the MovNat course are my treats to myself for working on the book and reinvesting in my learning. I do a TON of coaching but it’s vital that I keep my horizons open and continue to learn and grow. Hopefully I’ll see some of y’all at this event.
Awesome! Have a great time!
Awesome! I’ve looked into his seminars. Would like to attend one someday. Im sure you’ll let us know how it went and write a review right? 😉
Ryan-
You bet!
Sorry if this offends and it might be cos i’m being thick but i have to ask this…why would one go to a seminar about exercising outdoors when most of us have an outdoors of some ilk close by ?
I just don’t understand..it could be cos i’m cheap too, and am not joking despite the exclamm !

Well, that’s part of what I’m checking out! But in talking with Erwan he has a serious eye on movement efficiency. He seems to build capacity as an outgrowth of movement efficiency (do it right FIRST) which is in pretty stark contrast with some other popular methods. We’ve coached and taught this way at NorCal for a long time but It’ll be interesting for me to learn and observe someone with a completely different formative progression. Is there a kind of convergent evolution here?
that aside, I’m just looking forward to LEARNING again. I coach all the time. I’m the one in charge, with the answers, trying to help other people. It’ll be nice to switch that. Be the student, ask the questions, focus on MY goals for a change. As always though, good question.
Say hi to my buddy John Durant for me, I’m pretty sure he should be there.
Geoff-
Not sure if John is making this one, but I hope so. great guy.
Awesome! I’ll be there too.
I’m really excited!
If I tried that, my body would be covered in a giant scab afterwards.
Erwan is an AWESOME guy! You will learn so much. His physical ability and the careful articulation of his craft will leave you wanting to learn more. A true pioneer. I am excited to see what’s in store for the both of you!

thanks Web!
I attended his one day workshop last weekend in Austin, TX. It was awesome and I learned a lot. I agree with his philosophy on the body and how to use it efficiently. I know you will enjoy it!
Cheers to Erwan!
It would be really awesome if he teaches you guys how to wrestle alligators… what a cool trick to do on a camping trick with the buddies. “Yo dude watch out! There’s an alligator!” “Pfft!! Watch this move…” *splashing and grunting and some swearing*… Robb Wolf comes out of the water with an alligator over his neck like a scarf and says “Alligators have a wonderful Omega-3/Omega-6 balance; I just couldn’t let him get away. Plus I’ll be the first guy around with alligator skin weightlifting shoes.
David-
I like it. When we were in Belize there were some Crocodiles in the water, but no wrassling ensued.
Hey glad to hear you are doing jits again Rob. As far as physical pursuits, its definitely my favorite. Hope your training is going well.
Anton!!
Thanks amigo. Old Dude Jits is good! Hopefully we will see you guys soon.
SO JEALOUS! I’ve been a fan of Erwan for a while, but can’t make any of his new seminars/retreats this summer. Would love to be a fly on the wall when the two of you talk.
Thks Robbly….still don’t really geddit ..but might be cos i’m cheap as per above.
If nowt else he must have done wonders for Corsicas tourism….quite useful to be able to jump into the water like that if the locals don’t get you…they are notoriously orrible to foreigners even mainland Frenchies
You’re going to have an awesome time! I was at the very first MovNat USA retreat last year in Summersville Lake (as well as in Brazil). What a great experience – I learned so much. Erwan is so passionate about natural movement and his vision for MovNat – I think you’re hooking up with just the right resource!
Hope to meet you there!
Greg-
Right on! See you there.
Really cool stuff. Have fun at the course.
I saw this about a month ago and it became my long-term goal. It really seems like a wonderful adventure – without being totally foolish like those guys who jump off Norwegian cliffs with nothing but a fancy wing suit. Enjoy your time, but please take notes to give us a full report. And, for the love, get a good base tan before you go!
Hey Rob!
Kudos to treating yourself. Mainly Jits, or you doing some Thai also?
Roelant
Roelant-
I just do some pads/bag work for Thai. Not a fan of getting hit anymore! Jit’s is still plenty tough for me.
Robb,
Are you doing anything special to prep for this?
Cliff-
Not really, I’ve been doing BJJ again so my conditioning is certainly up. Doing a few 800’s. Just curious how what I’m doing currently prepares or fails to prepare me for the week.
the last time I did any martial arts was 13 years ago…so I’m trying to rush some sessions in. I also am gonna try to get in the water some before then, yesterday I let the ocean kick my ass for a while, and ended up swallowing some just for good measure. Gonna have to do some running myself, despite my despise for it. Despite those three issues, I have been climbing trees for the past year, and I love jumping on rocks. You’re doing both sessions? I’m sure you’ll feel awesome by the second week.
You will do great, we can lag the RUN!! It’s up in the air a bit as to both sessions. I may need to come back to Chico for a project with Prof. Cordain, then turn around and head back to Arlington for a Paleolithic Solution seminar. Guaranteed fun!!
