Ahhh! On the road again. 4am wake up to hop the commuter plane from Chico to SF. I opted for sleep instead of food before leaving as SF-airport tends to have some good options.
I’ve posted on a place called Max’s The Greek located near gate 71 in the United terminal. Since I arrived here at 6:30 I had some different selections from my usual Greek chicken. Max’s had a choice of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and some kind of Lamb-patty. I asked for some salad that consisted of red peppers and red onions. I will reek of onion all the way to Boston, but it was damn yummy.
Food choices vary while on the road but it’s usually possible to wrangle up a hunk-o-protein and some kind of veggies.
I rounded things out with a quad Americano from Peet’s!
Rob,
Love the blog and thanks for all the advice so far! I’ve been adopting paleo for a while and think it’s helped a lot, but have recently become more concerned with food quality – i.e. grain-fed vs. 100% grass-fed beef or factory farmed vs. pasture raised eggs.
How sensitive should a paleo-focused eater be on the nutritional quality of his or her food as it relates to the origin of that food? Are the differences negligible enough such that all eggs are equal and all ground beef is equal?
Thanks!
Scott
Scott-
It’s pretty easy to track down Omega-3 enriched eggs…I think that is worth while. It gets ever easier to find grassfed meat (costco and trader joe’s both carry a limited selection) so when it;s handy I’d give it a shot. If not, no worries. Supplement with fish oil and you are doing fine.
You know that actually looks pretty good.
Hi Robb,
I’ve been slowly switching over to a mostly paleo diet. The biggest changes for me are removing my bowl (or 2 or 3) of cereal in the morning and late morning snack of oatmeal. I’ve been finding myself eating a lot of eggs for breakfast and I’m wondering is there a limit to the number of eggs I should be eating in a week?
I also saw a news story on Metabolic Syndrome on CNN the other day. I came to the realization that this is the stuff that the majority of the people hear and why it is so hard for them to grasp the “quality of food” concept.

Good luck on the road and have a safe trip home.
Dude! QUAD Americano before you get on a plane? Holy Hannah!
How do you even form sentences after a QUAD Americano? I’d have a heart attack! Or is the espresso weak down there like your American beer? HA!
Guacion-
I rarely form complete sentences! Perhaps you are hitting on something here!
Can’t wait to meet you in Boston!
Any reason for the qaud americano… personal taste preferance or paleo reason?
Paul-
Damn yummy
Robb,
I have been having a serious problem not cheating on my diet. I have a huge sweet tooth and so I cheat a bit every time I am at a party or am just around any kind of dessert. It’s interesting because I feel like crap almost immediately afterward; i.e. stomach issues, acid reflux, bad bowel movements, sleepiness, etc.. For lunch today I ate almost nothing but carbs and found myself asleep for four hours in the afternoon. What I’m saying there is I’m a believer. Anyway, my question is this: much of my food when I’m not cheating is very bland so I think I can solve my problem if I knew how to better season my meat. So do you know a few seasonings I could use to make it easier to eat low carb or at least enjoy it more? Also I’m sick of chicken breast. Any recommendations? Thanks
James

Buy Scotty Hagnass’s cooks books and subscribe to the Performance menu!!
Great seminar this weekend, I am already thinking about taking that Paleo Challenge back to the affiliate where I work.
Sorry I know are many kinds of healthy alternatives to chicken breast but i mean cheap, tasty alternatives. Thanks.
Robb,
Awesome cert last Sunday. You could instill confidence in anyone. Our box is all abuzz talking about nutrition now.
This is trivial, but you mentioned grassfed whipped cream. Where do you find this nectar? Ive looked at Whole Food and TJ’s in NYC with no luck…maybe I’ll just go for your butter trick instead 🙂
Usually what I find is “organic whole whipping cream”. Trader Joes has a good brand, im sure places like whole foods will also.
the stick of butter is hard-core!!
Robb,
Awesome nutrition cert in Boston, thanks to you and Matt for doing such a kickass job.
Question: you’ve mentioned doing CLC to lean out recently–judging by your body comp it’s clearly worked damn well…any chance you could limn out your program? Even just noting how many carbs you eat in a given week from day to day would be helpful.
Thanks!
Justin-
It’s dead simple:
About 4 meals per day, hunk-o-protein, veggies and a little fat. I keep the carbs under 50g/day. Performance was REALLY shitty for a while but i’ve ramped up over time. Once per week I have a pretty good sized carb meal, perhaps 100g. I;ve been following either CF Football or Rutmans ME-Black box WOD. That’s it!
Thanks for coming out to the cert!
Robb, regarding your leaning out advice, how much protein do you recommend and do you go with the PWO sweet potato as the majority of your carbs for the day? Thanks, great website!
Justin-
I’ll do a quick up-date on this on the front page.
We need a lot more ingshits like this!
