Testimonial from: Jeremy H.
I grew up an athlete, a pretty good one even. I made it into my 20’s fairly lean and strong. Like most, I got wrapped up in every day life, work, stress, eating and drinking. I’m 5’8″ and in my 20’s got up to 245 lbs. At age 27, I decided to get “active” again.
This was the typical new years resolution. A hardcore diet + treadmill + weights + everything I had ever learned about the importance of whole grains, blah blah blah… I dropped almost 50 lbs in 6 months, but was miserable. Not to mention, I was starving and irritable all the time too.
Fast forward to age 34. I’ve fluctuated between 190-215 lbs. over the past 5 years. I’ve had a persistent headache, stomach aches, irregular bowel movements, high blood pressure, high cholesterol. All the while, I’ve stayed active. I’ve ridden a couple-three century rides. I took up kayaking. I hit the gym 3-4 times per week.
Last September (2011) someone in passing conversation mentioned CrossFit. From there, the owner of a CrossFit gym here said “hey, you gotta check out this book…” Low and behold, what he wrote on that scrap of paper for me that day changed my life; “the paleo solution, robb wolf”
Three days into eating Paleo, that silly headache I had went away. No more drugs, acupuncture, chiropractor or massages. I’ll miss the massages though. 🙁
No more problems with feeling bad after eating either. I started sleeping better and feeling better. No more mood swings (diagnosed dysthymic). More energy, though I still enjoy my morning coffee.
Here we are 5 months later. I weighed in at 183 lbs. today. That puts me at 32 lbs. lost. I recently had my blood work done. Cholesterol 140, with proper ratios (even had em check my particle density, looking good). Blood glucose 75. Triglycerides 49. Blood pressure 110/70.
I get asked about it and stick to saying 75% of all of this is diet. The 25% from exercise just gives me sweet guns that impress the ladies!
Robb’s book and the site is invaluable. It’s like someone put together a magical book of secrets on how to eat and be healthy. Not to mention, Robb’s writing style is pretty awesome too.
Thank you Robb. Thank you everyone that has helped contribute to the Paleo community and lifestyle.

I’ve had two clients start the Paleo Diet and their results have been amazing. They’ve both seen faster increases in strength not to mention significant weight loss in only a few weeks!

Awesome story, Jeremy–thanks for sharing, and giving just a little bit of extra inspiration to start off the week. Keep up the good work.

Great testimonial! Congratulations.

Awesome! I haven’t had a migraine since I went Paleo, and the intestinal “issues” are gone unless I slip up and eat (or drink LOL) grains, especially gluten-containing ones. Weight is almost to my “ideal” where I spent years and years before I had kids. And now I have another Success Story-type link to share with my Paleo friends who could use some fresh inspiration! 🙂

I would try cutting back on caffeine if you get migraines. I used to get them every weekend when I finally put 2 and 2 together. It was because I didn’t drink coffee on weekends, only during the week. If I ever miss my daily cup of coffee then I’m screwed, so I decided to quit coffee. I still drink decaf from time to time, but when quitting coffee it’s best not to jump to decaf right away or else you’ll hate it. I’d wait a month before trying it.

Such a great story… I especially love the line at the end… “It’s like someone put together a magical book of secrets on how to eat and be healthy.” … because that’s how exactly how I feel too. So many people think I’m crazy for not eating grains, and especially grains containing gluten, even after I explain why. I always get the line “But, I thought whole grains were good for us.” or “They’re the basis of the food pyramid”…blah blah blah… So many refuse to just try it for even a week, but I swear if they did they’d feel so much better!

Great job! It’s amazing how quickly life can change for the better.
Although I must ask – why give up the massages? Good health and massage therapy are not mutually exclusive. Yes, I’m biased because I’m a LMT, but the results are clear.
Keep up the great work and enjoy those sweet guns! 🙂

Great job, Jeremy. It’s like someone’s given you the key to the secret of life, isn’t it? You look like a different person. BTW, your wife is beautiful!

Love reading successful testimonials! It give me hope.
Just started Paleo, and have been strict for 3 days. This will be a huge challenge for me, because my previous diet consisted of meat, grains and dairy. I’m not a fan of fruit, and hate just about every vegetable (except white potatoes and some romaine lettuce).
The past three days have been tough: eating vegetables I’ve never tasted (and not really loving, but I’m choking them down) and having no sugar (candy, soda) or grains (bread, cereal) is proving to be tough.
But, I have so much to gain: I have seasonal allergies, IBS, headaches, increased body fat and I’m a moody bastard. I’m hoping between Paleo and CrossFit, things will get better.
I’m lucky to have a wife who’s gone paleo with me as well.
Wish me luck – I’m going to be the hardest paleo convert ever…

Jeremy was happier when life turned over and things went more smoothly. This Paleo solution is definitely making so many people happy, I’d cry a tear to be a witness of a wonderful change.

I have been following the eating plan for about 4 weeks and I feel great. I am not hungry all of the time and I skip breakfast on a daily basis. I have lost about 8 pounds, but not too many inches off of my waist. Would anyone offer any advice and/of tips?
Thanks a lot!

This a technical comment, Today March 28, 2012 in my RSS reader (Google Reader) I received the past 96 articles posted on this site. I’m guessing this wasn’t intended and wanted to give you a polite heads up.
Robb Wolf says
Sorry Ken, we imported a new site and that was likely the problem, sorry for the Spam.

Paleo people look fit. Lean vegans and vegetarians look puny.
Good job Jeremy!

How men and women are objectified are definitely related, but I think it is very important to avoid comparing oppression like this. It pits those oppressed against each other in an unproductive fight that, in the end, only weakens progressive movements. Saying one version of objectification is “worse” or “the worst” or anything that implies other versions of objectification are less important does this, and implies that people should be focusing on the other, “worse” oppression and not the other one. I know this is rather simplistic – we can advocate against more than one oppression at a time – but I think it is important to avoid anything that could devolve into another round of “oppression olympics” where the only winners are the oppressors.
