It’s kinda funny…I’ve archived plenty of blog posts but I’ve never done it when I knew I’d not see the blog for 2-3 weeks. It’s kinda like writing material for your funeral or maybe I need to take more time away from social media more often. Wacky!
Well, now that summer is settling in and folks are starting to scamper around outside, I have an idea for folks who are looking for something to do: A MovNat retreat in West Virginia. I participated in one of the Expansion workshops last year and it was a blast. I learned a ton and it was just a great experience. Now, most of you may know that I have moved to Santa Fe and have been doing some work with Erwan, helping to organize curriculum for the upcoming MovNat certifications. That’s all true but I have NO financial ties to MovNat, I just believe in Erwan and what he is doing with this project. If you value an open, progressive training and coaching environment, you will love this experience.
Whether or not you decide to go, definitely check out this Outside Mag piece on MovNat (you might see me in there a time or two as well) and this MovNat trailer. If that does not get you off your backside this weekend, nothing will.

Hi Rob,
I wonder what you think about bouldering? In a way, you can view it as a kind of MovNat 🙂

I’m no Robb but I think bouldering combined with e.g. sprint work is just awesome way to get strong and maintain a good power to weight ratio. Fun too 🙂

I’m heading out to train with them in a couple of weeks and was lucky enough to guest host for Sean Croxton yesterday on Underground Wellness Radio to interview MovNat founder Erwan LeCorre. Here’s a link to the interview we did. It was a lot of fun talking to him and he was really excited to answer questions from fans as well.
Start listening 3 minutes in… I had some technical SNAFUs in the beginning there… ah, technology!

Thanks for linking to this Diane. I think you tweeted it before but I forgot about it.
Erwan is awesome. I feel incredibly lucky that a 1 day movnat clinic is happening in Grand Rapids this year!

This would be a blast!

Epigenetic influence upon your genes….in a normal, natural way…for optimal benefit, and optimal output.
This is what our food and exercise should do for us; not the other way around: producing disease and dysfunction.
Gym machines and junk food won’t produce optimal benefits.

This is an awesome looking workout. We do something very similar in the hills of LA. Check out the Video below! Its MovNat but a little closer to home.

That will get you strong and dirty, what more can a guy want?
As for training others to do it, I suggest GOOD insurance and iron clad waivers of liability……..For those already young and strong enough to do it. Also a lighter course for us old and infirm guys. You know us ex-atheletes that have had a lot of injurys , that might help the bottom line a bit .

Surprisingly i haven’t gotten injured with this after 6 months of doing it almost every day and I am neither young nor strong. I think it’s easier to get hurt lifting weights. To your point tho, MN would benefit from an on ramp program, like maybe some of Lee Saxby’s material.
This is a fun work, at least at this stage it seems like i am always doing something i couldn’t do last week. The balance component is extremely important, especial as we get older that makes a huge difference in the quality of life.
@Robb, proprioception and haptic perception may be a good topics for future blog post. Quite a system evolution left behind.

I can totally see myself doing that in the -20 degrees celsius of the Finnish winter. Or maybe not.

Figures, I used to live not 5 minutes away from this location 6 months ago… now I am 300 miles away working all that week.
