Robb,
I don’t know if you knew how funny it was when you made a little crack about you not selling anything on your site(check out Ben’s site). I was stoked to listen to this, because Ben Greenfield’s podcast was my first foray into podcasts vs music listening, and that how I ended up listening to paleolithic solution. Couple gems in there: “is there anything that resembles cereal and milk for breakfast?” Rob-“NO.” Classic.
Robb Wolf says
Cliff-
TEchnically I was not accurate on that. I do have a Paleo Brands sticker on my site, theoretically I will make money from that some day! I will likely have some limited supplements on my site at some point (now foods super enzymes for example…why not make a few shekels if folks click through from my site?) but I rue the day I start selling crap I KNOW is not all that healthy for folks.
That said, I do reserve the right to do a gluten free desert line at some point. Perhaps I will claim it is “enzymatically baked” and therefore healthy.

Husband and I have been eating Paleo (except goat milk) for four months. Feel AMAZING. Love your podcasts and your blog. Great interview on Rockstar Triathlete.

Hey Robb,
I have a client that has been paleo for about a year now. His blood work that he just had done came back showing total cholesterol at 306, but his HDL has risen, and I know from his last test that his LDL is “large puffy”. This time he also had FA testing done. I know that you are busy, but I was wondering if you have a minute to look over his blood work if I email it you you and let me know what you think, or if not if there is someone you could point me to who could look at it and shoot out a quick opinion on it. Not looking for a plan revamp, I just don’t understand that layout and results from the FA test as well as you or someone on your level would.
Thanks.

Murakoshi-
Try Amy kubal. she should be able to help.

In reference to the energy bars: I have found that Larabars are a pretty good solution in a pinch. Gluten free, dairy free, soy free, grain free. Usually only three or four ingredients (ie the Key Lime Pie flavor has dates, pecans, lime juice and coconut.)
Robb Wolf says
Tami-
they are solid. Paleo Brands will have an solid bar out pretty soon. We have been tinkering.
Rob (not Wolf) says
Is there a downloadable mp3?
Robb Wolf says
Rob-
I do not think so.

This is completely off topic…
I finally decided to give NOW Super Enzymes a go, just to get the system in check. I just received by bottle in the mail, but cannot for the life of me find where you laid out the dosing. I think it is as follows: take one with a high protein meal, add one with every high protein meal after that until you feel a “warm” feeling in your stomach. At this point dial back one and stay there until the warm feeling occurs, and then dial back one again. Continue do this until you have dial off of the Super Enzymes.
Is this correct, or am I just making shit up?
How long should the process take on average? One bottle? Two? How often should I repeat the process to keep the system running?
Thanks for the help. Keep fighting the good fight.
Robb Wolf says
Jesse-
correct dosing. Impossible to tell how long someone will need that.

Hey Robb and Andy, question for the podcast:
I’m all on board with the unweiged unmeasured paleo gig but I love a spun up Robb and Deas booming laugh in the background so I’ve got a zone question for you.
In the zone books Barry talks about this golden ratio that supposedly produces these magical eicosinoids. Is that just total bunk or is there something to it?
Bonus question: Is there enough fructose is avocado to avoid them if one is trying to lean out?
Robb Wolf says
Aaron-
Bunk!
and Avocados are good to go.
Aaron Smith says
Oh and thanks a million for the podcast, can’t wait for the book!

RE the sunflower oil – it could be high oleic which has can be as low as 9% omega 6 polyunsaturate, 82 % mono and 9% sat fat. http://www.sunflowernsa.com/health/default.asp?contentID=45
I teach clients to check labels and ideally use oils than have less than 15 grams per 100 polyunsaturated fats. Olive oil has about 12% pufa.

Lifesaver. In dealing with type2 diabetes last three years have been unsuccessful in following ideal plan of keeping blood glucose level at constant reading of 83. This was following Dr. Richard Bernstein’s (The Diabetes Solution) program of 6-12-12 carb grams at breakfast-lunch-dinner. Now reconciling his diet/exercise philosophy with your Paleo Solution and getting excellent compliance and results. Great work that your doing. Keep it up. Can’t wait for your book coming out in September.
Robb Wolf says
Thanks mike. We have heard this many times now.

Hey Robb, having a real tough time with one client and wondering if you have any ideas: She’s been doing super strict Paleo for six weeks, and has near constant diarrhea. I had her try Now Foods Super Enzymes for a week – no change. I then had her try Barleans Greens for a week.
She said she feels more “full” by taking the Greens, but she’s still have bad diarrhea twice per day.
Her and her fiance are TOTALLY bought in on the Paleo lifestyle – but this is six weeks now, twice a day running to the bathroom. Please help!
Robb Wolf says
Brian-
too much veggies? Perhaps a little more yam type items with soluble fiber. Keep me posted!

Rob,
When is the Jimmy Moore interview going to air?
Robb Wolf says
Warren-
I will check, we are doing the recording in about 40 min.

Rob (not Wolf) and Robb Wolf,
Right click on the link to RSTA site (http://www.rockstartriathlete.com/audios/memberaudios/robbwolf.mp3) and click “save link as”. Should be able to save to desktop or wherever as mp3. OR you could open the link and in the “File” tab at top of browser, select “save page as”….
This is the Neolithic Solution….

Robb- really looking forward to listening to your triathlete interview. Enzymatically baked – love it! Do they still have that “molecular baking” crap on the Zone website?
Ben Wheeler says
Brian PCF,
Look into the GAPS diet. It deals with digestive orders and can be extremely helpful.

LOVED the interview. I have such a strong desire to find a way to force every triathlete and marathon runner I know to listen to it. If I had the money, I would pay people to listen to it.
Thank you so much for doing the interview. At least I can post it on all the tri boards and on facebook and hopefully get some people to listen.
Robb Wolf says
Thanks Jessica. if folks are curious, it’s pretty damn easy to just try it.

I’m an amateur cyclist (cat4) and I regularly get a hard time from my cycling buddies about (1) my diet and (2) my crazy Crossfit-esque training.
I hadn’t heard that Garmin Slipstream was gluten-free. I’ve sent the Men’s Journal article about it (http://www.mensjournal.com/winning-without-wheat) to a couple other local riders and started quite the stir. Interesting stuff. Thanks.
Robb Wolf says
Rich-
Good luck with that! Not a very progressive bunch from my coaching experience!
