Thank you to the Serranos for hosting the cert and a big thank you to everyone who came out for the day! Great questions and good energy make the day a lot more fun and educational for everyone.
UPDATE:
Here is the pre-cert reading that many folks did not get. Also, the shopping and food guide and the blank 30 day food log can be found in the FAQ.
Next stop: Back to back days in Atlanta!!
Where can that 58 Page Pre-Reading as well as that 30 day meal plan item that was mentioned throughout the cert?
Thanks much,
T H E O
Robb, great cert! You mentioned about the 50 pages of the precert reading we would have to do on our own. How do we go about obtaining a copy of the precert packet?
Pon- I updated the post and the reading is there.
Robb,
I know that you hear this ALL OF THE TIME, but thank you so much for every last bit of information! It really helps that you can deliver it in a way that is very understandable and easy to relate to.
Robb-
Great cert, but I have two questions I wasn’t able to stick around and ask afterwards.
-I’m still not completely straight on post-WOD shakes vs. meals. I looked back at your high carb/low carb post-WOD article and think my problem may be drawing the distinction between doing that and having a 4P/8C/0F-type meal of real food with >50% of your daily carbs in that meal in the form of yams or whatnot. How do you figure out if you should go with a meal or shake?
-Under supplements you recommended non-chelated zinc and magnesium–does ZMA fit the bill for that?
Eric-
shake or no shake AND carbs or no carbs PWO all have to do with leanness. Not lean, no carbs and definitely no shake.
ZMA is great and those should be chelated forms.
Robb-
Sorry to bother you again but I guess my question wasn’t very clear–I was wondering more along the lines of coconut milk shake (which obviously has fat) vs. the suggested 4P/8C/0F meal which in theory tries to take advantage of higher post-WOD insulin sensitivity by not having any fat to slow down the absorption.
Eric-
Lay the whole question on me brother! Hey, actually, give the new podcast a listen and see if that clarifies it.
Hi, from Kingman, AZ Wow! Had a great time at the cert. learned a lot. Forgot to ask if you have read Good Calories / Bad Calories by Gary Taubes. I suspect that you have since you didn’t bash sat. fat. Thanks for the knowledge. Any advanced certs or seminars coming up? Will I learn even more at a paleo brands seminar?
David!
thank you for coming out and suffering through the cert! Yep, big fan of good cals/bad cals.
We are developing two advanced topics cert with Prof. Cordain. One will be appropriate for strength coaches/trainers, the other will be for health professionals including doctors, nurses, PT’s and pharmacists. No specific timeline yet, but it’s in process. The paleo brands seminar goes deeper into much of the paleo information as Prof. Cordain presents his Paleolithic intro piece. It’s fantastic. I cover a significant amount of clinical examples and implementation.
At the cert you mentioned that Sarah only worked out 2 days/wk. I understand that she is a very busy person, but there wasn’t anything other exercise going on other than crossfit?
Addie-
Nope, tues/thurs am class. Occasionally she and her husband would hit a weekend WOD in their garage. The exercise is secondary to the food!
Robb – Thank you so much for all the great information this weekend! You made the cert/seminar very enjoyable and easy to learn!! We’ve started a 30 day Paleo/Zone trial at our gym! For us (Manda and myself) going non-weighed, non-measured, gluten free Paleo is not going to be as difficult as it is to get our clients to do it. So, we’re starting them on just the Zone and will be pulling out the grains and dairy along the way. I can’t wait to feel, look and perform better. From now on I’ll be taking my ‘double half caff decaf with a twist of lemon’!!!
Nicki – Thank you for the information on your classes up at CF Norcal and the programming ideas!!
Take care and thanks again!
Steve
Thanks for coming to Marina and putting on your great cert! The info you provided on one of your female athletes was very revealing to me. After the 10 block zone she went unweighed unmeasured and was up near 25 blocks of protein with great results. At 225-235lbs body wt, I found myself totally protein starved on the Zone even nearing 25 blocks. Using the your Paleo model, i have leaned out as quickly as with the Zone, but have done much better with lean muscle maintainence and gains. My performance is better as well. Thanks again Robb!
