Okay grown-ups, you lucky ducks have “The Paleo Solution”, “The 30 Day Total Transformation Guide”, “The Primal Blueprint”, “The Paleo Answer”, “Good Calories Bad Calories”, a plethora of paleo cookbooks, and that just scrapes the surface of paleo/primal, health and diet related literary masterpieces at your fingertips. But what about the kids? I mean are we going to leave them stuck with options like this, this and this? I mean really folks – we can do better! I can hear you all thinking, “but Amy, how?”; “There are no paleo friendly kid’s books…” Hold on right there.
The story has changed. I’m sure you all have the “Everyday Paleo” cookbook, right?? Well, its author – Sarah Fragoso of the Everyday Paleo website/blog, has created yet another masterpiece. This time it’s for the kids though, (okay- I have to be completely honest; adults are going to love it too!). With no further ado I present to you: “PaleoPals – Jimmy and the Carrot Rocket Ship”. This book is epic! I mean, there are paleo superheroes and they spread the good nutrition message traveling around in their most awesome Carrot Rocket Ship (take that all you carrot haters!!)
The Paleo Pals team (Piper, Phoenix, and Parker) take Jimmy (a notorious healthy food hater), on a nutrition adventure. They visit the farmer’s market, look at food ingredients, discover what junk food does to the body, and much more! The pictures and colors are AWESOME. And if all that’s not enough – there are some kid (and adult)- friendly recipes too! The ‘Rockin’ Rocket Stuffed Sweet Potatoes’ are truly ‘out of this world’!!!
So grown-ups, let’s let the kids in on some of the paleo fun and as an added bonus – you’ll get to enjoy the adventure too! I have to admit – I don’t have kids; but, I have read this book at least five times in the past seven days. I only wish the Paleo Pals had been around when I was healthy food hater. The whole idea of a ‘Gingerbread House’ wouldn’t have sounded nearly as cool with the promise of a ‘Carrot Rocket Ship’. Don’t let your family fall victim to fairy tales telling of ‘poison apples’, and ‘baskets of goodies’. Instead power them with a good food message from the Paleo Pals!
3,2,1… BLAST OFF!!!

I have pre-ordered my copy and I am so excited to get it. I have a 12 year old and 3 year old and I think they both will enjoy reading it. I love the recipes I have tried in Everyday Paleo and can’t wait to see what she has come up with for the children’s book.

If only happy meals included this book. Then again, wouldn’t be a great for the makers of the happy meals 🙂
Seriously, thanks for sharing info about this. Although I don’t have children myself, I think it’s SO important to educate children (while they’re still children), about the necessity of this natural, healthy lifestyle.
Thanks for sharing this–I think Sara’s really doing a great thing.

Poison apples, hmm… I never thought of that one. Sneaky, subliminal Fairy Tales!

I’m currently working on a Primal Pals book….but thinking of steering the boat in a more “Lord of the Flies” direction.
