This is part of an ongoing series of real life success stories from people all over the world who have been impacted by the Paleo lifestyle and The Paleo Solution. Read Chris’s story below.
Robb,
My name is Chris Tower, I’m 20 years old and from London, Ontario. Ive been listening to your podcasts from day one, and have been following you for quite some time before that. I had played around with a paleo diet in the past, but have never stuck with it for a substantial amount of time. After reading your book, along with Dr. Cordain’s The Paleo Diet for Athletes: A Nutritional Formula for Peak Athletic Performance, i felt it was time to stick with a paleo diet. As the fresh new year came upon us i thought this would be the perfect opportunity to begin. So Monday January 3, 2011 was the kick off to my new paleo life.
I have documented every meal I’ve eaten, and every workout I’ve done since January, and I couldn’t be more pleased. I don’t block out any of my meals, I just try to balance good size portions of protein, with vegetables on the side, and a good amount of fat. I shoot for 1 g/lbs of protein, take 5000IU of Healthy Origins Vitamin D3 daily, as well as about 2 tsps of Natural Calm, and 5-10 g of Nutra Sea Fish Oil every day. I recently started taking NOW Foods 1000mg Tribulus about a month ago. I feel that since taking it i have become a little more defined, but I’m not sure if that’s the diet, or if the Tribulus is really doing anything.
On January 3, 2011 I was 5’10 and 185lbs. Today, just about 5 months later, I’m sitting at about 170 lbs, have seen improvements on all major lifts (deadlifts, back & front squat, clean and jerk, press, bench press), and endurance improvements in rowing, running, and WOD times.
Overall I just want to say thank you for making this information available to everyone worldwide, and i will continue to spread the word to everyone I know. I have turned a few friends on to your website podcast, and book, and they have also seen great results in just a few short months.
Cheers,
Chris Tower

I notice you mention fish oil as part of your regiment. I recently started taking that myself and wow what as difference in my joints. I was actually considering giving up weight lifting because of the joint pain I was having but now it has all but gone away.

I have lots of family in London! My uncle was a Captain with the fire department there. Thank you for sharing your story, its motivating for me because while I’ve lost weight (quickly) going Paleo the last two months, I really need to get my arse to the gym and workout. I can’t even do one push up so setting some small goals like being able to do 5 is achievable enough that I’m really excited to get there by the end of this summer. Thanks Chris for sharing.

It’s refreshing to see athletes and weightlifters obtaining success while going Paleo. You have definitely gain a lot of mass and your muscles are a lot more defined. Keep up the good work! You’re an inspiration to many!

great work. well done
quick question did you changed the way you workout while on paleo
also at any point did you have a cheat or was you 100% for 5 months
Chris says
My workouts stayed pretty mush the same, i did crossfit with additional strength training, including major lifts like back squats, deadlifts, and press. I was also battling some knee problems so i took a good couple months off “heavy” squatting, but have since resumed. I would have cheats here and there, no specific days, and i wouldn’t have an entire “cheat day” just something like a dessert from time to time, besides that pretty much all fruit/veg, meats, fish, nuts.
thanks!
