I have myasthenia gravis, it’s a rare autoimmune disease that wreaks havoc on the neuromuscular system. It is incurable and can be fatal. I was diagnosed in October 2009. In my fight against the disease, I tried everything known to modern medicine to treat my symptoms. I had my thymus removed. I tried IVIG twice. I tried plasmapheresis. I spent four years on immunosuppressants that slowly destroyed my kidneys until I went into acute kidney failure. It was when I went into failure and faced giving up the medication that had kept my symptoms under control that I came across your book. I read it. It made sense. I decided to try Paleo. Within 6 weeks of starting paleo, I was off my meds and my symptoms were more under control then when I was on it. I haven’t touched any MG meds since. I stay Paleo and as long as I do, I feel great. Normal. Healthy. Your book saved my life. It gave me my life back. And I just wanted to say thank you.

Hi Kristina! I also have myasthenia gravis and I have been using the Paleo Autoimmune Protocol to keep it in remission. I also take no medications. It’s so great to hear of other MG success stories!
Didnt you actually get diagnosed with myasthenia a year after you started the AIP diet?
Hello, saw you comment in a webpage about diet and Myasthenia Gravis, and was wondering if you keep doing it and how do you feel now?
I am very happy for you!
I’m also suffering from MG and trying to keep Paleo Diet for the last 4 years, but unfortunately my MG didn’t disappear… And some of my symptoms got even worst from time to time…
What kind of Myasthenia do you have? Which are the muscles that were mostly affected and how severe it was? Could you walk before starting Paleo? Could you raise your hands? how about breathing? Did any of these symptoms got better?
I will also be happy to read more about what you eat and more about what you DO NOT eat, because Paleo can have a very wide interpretation when it comes to food…
So interesting and good to read. I also have MG and was diagnosed in my early 20’s. I now have four small kids and take no meds. I have learned to deal with the daily symptoms of MG so this was super encouraging to read. Thank you!
Hi Ladies, I also have MG and just started this diet. I currently take prednisone, Imuran and Mestinon. I am hoping to eventually stop with all these pills. I just want to feel good…
Wish me luck.
Andrea, how are things with you. I have had MG 2 years and am currently on Imuranand prednisone. I'm thinking about trying keto or paleo diet. thx, Tony Norris says

It is great to hear of your success with Paleo. I am transistioning into Paleo now….and have MG as well. Same story, I have been on Prednisone since 2007, as well as tacrolimus and periodic IVIG. In this past week I am starting to feel alot better and I havent even got to 100% Paleo. I have cut out all snack foods and am eating alot more fruits, veggies and nuts. I too dream of being medication free and living the “normal life”.
Hi guys!! I am too a myasthenia gravis patient and I would love to enter in remission just by whatching what I eat. I have a doubt in which diet do you guys go by? The paleo diet in regular or the paleo autoimmune diet? Please let me know for me to start as soon as possible.
You could try a regular paleo diet and move to an autoimmune protocol if need be, but I would probably just go for the autoimmune protocol first and see where you can go from there. It’s usually the way to go for autoimmune disease to get it in control.
Hello, you responded a few years back something about an autoimmune protocol diet and was wondering where could I check this out. I have Myasthenia Gravis.
Scroll to Autoimmunity on this page: http://robbwolf.com/what-is-the-paleo-diet/
My husband suffers with MG, interested in Paleo Diet to see if it helps him. However he has severe allergies to all nuts and peanut butter. Would this be safe from all that?
He could try doing it without nuts, maybe more like an Autoimmune Protocol (AIP).

My 18 year old has refractory Myasthenia Gravis. Meds are hardly touching her symptoms. She’s been on up to 60 mg of prednisone daily. Had a thymectomy, tried IVIG – no change at all. She cannot smile. She can hardly swallow. I’m starting paleo with her this week. We are desperate for answers.
I too was DX with refractory MG. I have been hospitalized 6x’s this year. 4x’s intubated, 4x’s ICU critical. So. I’m desperate. I’m on 60mg Pred, Imuran, Mestinon, IVIG! Would love any updates.
Also, was dx 2 years ago. The first year was a non event in comparison to the last year.
