Apologies for the long break from posting. I have a pretty good bolus of stuff I’ve been working on so that should roll out in the next week.
This recipe was dead simple: olive oil, chicken thigh and chard. I browned the chicken in the olive oil, added the chard…and I added 1 packet of Trader Joe’s chicken bouillon. It is low sodium and in a paste form but it increased the flavor and “savory-atude” of the meal amazingly. Give it a shot!
Thanks Robb! Keep the great recipes and information coming.
Looks great… new apartment is 1 mile from Trader J’s, will try recipe this week.

I’ve been pondering this question lately: What did I eat before Mr. Wolf introduced me to Chards of Many Colors? I don’t have an answer.
You and me both! I LOVE that stuff! It makes me a little nervous because TJ’s has a nasty habit of dropping stuff I like…

You had to do it, didn’t you… you had to go and use the word “bolus” in a recipe article.
Bad form. 😉
I have a grab-bag of catch-all phrases…bolus is at the top of my faves! it does conjure some interesting imagery.

Dang it, I just made a TJ run and made the previous chard recipe for GF but forgot that she doesn’t like tomatoes, DOH! This would have been perfect, hopefully she will give me a second chance. Full report coming soon…
Hey Robb that looks good, but what exactly is chard?
Chard is actually beet-tops. Our farmers market just rocks with the stuff July-sept. I’m not sure how TJ’s stabilizes their supply, but I’m just glad they have it!
This looks tasty, gonna try it and then see if the kids want some. Thanks Robb.
If the kids eat it, you know it’s good! Or you can just with-hold food until they think it’s the best meal they have ever had…obviously I do not have kids yet!

Nice, thanks for the recipe. We just bought Scott’s Cooking for Health and Performance, so i think between that and your blog i have plenty of stuff to try.
Scott’s book is phenomenal. he is not dubbed a “culinary genius” for nuth’n!
Looks good! Do this kinda stuff a lot. Sometimes EVOO or coconut oil too! Oftentimes, I will dilute some tehina and add that in and then let it thicken. Once I did that with some hemp flour. Wow was it good!! (never use the bouillon, usually just a pinch of my smoked salt)
Sarena…tsk, tsk…you and your hemp “products”!

A bolus of stuff…nice visual, ew. lol
See the tool box analogy above! I love Bolus!
im not sure im ready to give up my chard from the beef/chicken sausage recipe just yet….
Baby steps…we are here for you!
Gotta get that high somehow,somewhere
You’re too funny. Witholding anything from them for even 30 seconds will be risky in my household. They are lean and mean here. So, I’ll rephrase it: “I will cook it, eat it while they’re not home and just brag about my really good meal earlier in the day while they’re away at school. :)”
I do have a little question about one of my clients and zone blocks. send me a pm if you get a chance. Wishing you and yours a healthy Wed/Thu.
Shoot me an email any time robb at norcalsc dot com

Mmmmmm, chard. Looks and sounds so much like ‘sharted’ though. Don’t mix the two up, whatever you do.
WOW! You are rigth, that would be BAD!
Yeah.. they ditched their vacuum packed whole-shell muscles down in this part of town. I’d buy 10 bags at a time and eat 3 per meal….

Hey newlyweds how are things, hope all is well? Rob first thanks for all your work and for making it all available to us on the web, you are a true sage, I have a question I’m thinking about trying the intermittent fasting regiment, right now I’m just zoning and I keep my sundays off to eat all I feel like, is it ok to continue this way and just restart on Monday or should I fast on Sundays too? Thanks
That schedule sounds fine. The intermittent fasting is just there to help stream-line things and perhaps improve health and performance. That base paleo/zone diet is how you want to tackle things first.
Man, I blame your site for my families new chard addiction, great stuff. And isn’t TJ’s the best? My son works there so we take huge opportunity of the family discount. Go TJ’s!
Maybe we need to start a “chard anonymous”?
Another great recipe! Setting at the table last night enojoying grilled steak, chicken and veggies and I was thinking how good it feels to eat healthy. Paleo/Low Carb eating has totally changed my attitude and energy. I’ve been working out with Rut for 5 months now and the only regret I have is not starting sooner. Oh…one more regret, we don’t have a Trader Joe’s anywhere close to Kansas City. Take care, RP
One Rutman is worth a load of TJ’s1 You came out on the winning end of that deal!

I apologize if this isn’t the best way to reach you. I couldn’t find your e-mail address. This is the first post under “Gluten Free” so I felt it best fit my concern.
In April 2007 my friend, Eric Schultz, was sworn in as a Police Officer for our local Police Department and bought a house with his girlfriend. For the next six months Eric assumed everything in his body is working great. He was wrong. In October 2007 he was diagnosed with bone cancer, six months later the doctors decided to amputate his right foot. Now he has 4 more months of chemo treatments.
I am trying to get the message across that his diet is what put him in the hospital in the first place. I want him to understand that fat is good and grains are bad. I want him to understand that his never ending supply of “Fresca” is killing him and the aspartame is acting as a catalyst for his cancer that, according to his doctors, is being killed off by chemo. I have enlisted the help of Scott Kustes, Dr. Eades, Barry Groves, Art DeVany, and Dr. Cordain. As you know they are all strong advocates of the paleolithic style diet and/or are against processed grains if any. My plan is to combine all the feedback that each of you brilliant people are willing to give me into one short, factual, and straight to the point document for my friend to read. All in effort to provide the facts of our side and present it in an organized manner for which Eric can use to make his own decision and not one based on the FDA’s food pyramid from grade school.
He is a victim of years of brainwashing making him believe that his doctors know what they are talking about, his Subway sandwich “Jared style” is good for him and that fat=high cholesterol=overweight. I am on a mission to prove him wrong and help him see the light. I need your help to bring the information to him in the same way that has reformed so many other “healthy” people from their once “healthy” ways. Unfortunately for us he doesn’t like to read..imagine that someone in his position not willing to put forth the time and effort to be properly educated…perhaps another epidemic in our country. Well too bad for him. If I have to force feed him this stuff I will.
Please, if you have anything to add, or have dealt with a similar situation I am completely open for suggestions. He thinks he has beaten cancer. He thinks that since it was in his foot and his foot is gone then he doesn’t have cancer anymore. So do all our friends! I am alone and I am determined to make sure I am not isolated completely. I am not giving up on them without a fight.
I would like to thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon,
— i am sorry if some of the format seems generic as i am using it for everyone i am contacting

Robb- What do you think about chicken and cabbage enchiladas? I heard those are tasty, any suggestions on how to go about that? Hope all is well. Just starting with Diablo CF on the 14th.
Damn yummy. Stick with corn tortillas. You cna also use cabage leavess if you want a lower carb/paleo-esque meal. I may make those tonight!
Thanks for the great recipe- a friend of mine and I ate it last night. Yum!! Can’t wait to try more of your culinary creations! Ps- does anyone want to post the chicken and cabage enchilladas recipe that was mentioned earlier??

Have lost 6lbs…sugar @145 from 200+…I’m continuing on!
