Help With Research On Diet and Well-being

Hi all!  I’m a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, interested in better understanding the physical and mental health impacts of various diets.  Although the gold-standard method of this research involves randomized controlled trials, a good first step can be to understand the effects of individuals already on particular diets.  In other words, we might find that people on paleo diets have fewer mood swings or better sleep but that almost no one’s acne gets better.  By doing this sort of survey research, we can better guide the targeted randomized controlled trials later on.

There’s SO little good research on how various diets impact our psychological and physical well-being. Please help change that by taking part in our surveys. If you are currently on a diet (low carb, paleo, etc.), please answer this survey: http://ucbpsych.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_dfXAIcZzWtJN3Ks.If you are thinking of changing your diet, but haven’t yet, please first take our survey here: http://ucbpsych.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eaJSs3TEF8YrdHK.
If you know others who are on a low carb diet, a paleo diet, a low fat diet, or some other kind of diet, please share the links with them.Help us do better research on how diets influence our psychological and physical health!!

Thanks!

The survey mentions the Paleo and other diets where food quality is an issue. However some of the questions lump together gluten and non gluten containing foods, e.g. rice and pasta. I think this detracts from the effectiveness of the survey.

@Robert, I found that to be true also. I just added my comments at the end with what I did and didn’t include into my diet.
I think they should have separated them all. I only eat sticky rice as a re feed, once a week. And I just started doing that 6 weeks ago for backloading.
I suggested they add my friend Kiefers Carb Backloading and Carbnite Solution to the diet protocols.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll separate out rice and non gluten foods.

    Hello,

I’ve a low-ish carb Paleo diet for 2 years and am a fan of the whole movement. I’m currently in your neighborhood. I’ve graduated college and am serving as Community Healthcorps Navigator for Americorps in west Berkeley. I’m assisting low-socioeconomic, underrepresented populations in our community by helping them receive adequate health care, but also educating them on a healthy lifestyle, which will of course has been hugely influenced by the Paleo lifestyle.

Contact me if I can somehow help.

    Best,

    Henry
