Hi Robb,

Did you really say that you should not be worried about mercury in fish oil? If that's the case, why does the "IFOS Program" list it as the first thing they check for (in their FAQ) and why do major western regulatory bodies set upper safe limits on mercury in fish oil? If there was nothing to worry about, why regulate for it?

Ta,

Alicia-
Yes, there are certainly situations in which higher EPA or DHA are called for. I;d say EPA for things like pain and inflammation (perhaps physical activity) DHA more for kids and the aged: neurological issues.

Hey Robb,
Something that completely clicked with me listening to this podcast and something I had recently read (via my trainer, Erin Davidson Crossfit Center City) is the amount of fat intake. I had a problem with unknown weight gain in the last year (20 lbs in a year on Paleo foods + CF!??) but! I think it was the large increase in fats. Prior to CF I was vegetarian, so switching to meat I already was taking more in fat there (fats in meats like you were saying), plus I lived on nuts and nut butters and dark chocolate. I believe that the "too much fat" factor could be why I gained the weight (too much energy in fat as opposed to - when hungry - eating CHO and PRO) -- I'm doing a trial and error where I eat 3 meals / day with at least 20g PRO per meal, 30-50g CHO and no unnecessary FAT. No excess nuts or chocolates. 2x / week eating a "cheat" meal. Following this for 30 days, I'm on day 2 - added 10,000 IU of Vitamin D into the mix and I'll get back to you in the next 28 days as to how it goes. Thanks for the podcasts! Subscribed to it on iTunes!!!! Yay!!
Also, sorry to hear what happen, but something good comes from everything! I'm really looking forward to the book :) Happy Thanksgiving!!
