Paleo Brands Seminar!!

Hey everyone! I wanted to let y’all know about an upcoming Paleo Brands seminar featuring Prof. Loren Cordain, John Welbourn and myself. Here are the event details and and registration form. This is going to be AWESOME!! If you are interested in elite human performance, reversing metabolic derangement and autoimmunity you will love this event.

I am working on a post about managing Type 1 diabetes in a crossfit training format.  Should have that up tomorrow or later today. The book is coming along…I only contemplate suicide about 1x/hour!

Hey Robb, is there anyway to register for this and get the materials and watch a video of it (are you planning on taping it?) if one can’t make it out to Cal? Currently a plane across country is not in the budget unfortunately. This seminar is going to be awesome, especially after going to your cert in Boston. Thanks!

Thanks for the seminar. I’m sure it will be awesome!

We have a client at our CF box who has Type 1 diabetes. He is now on a strict paleo diet along with regular CrossFit workouts. With this combination, he is taking about 11 units less of insulin than he would have on his normal diet. Note that he was CrossFitting for about a year before switching to paleo, but the paleo diet is what has driven his current insulin intake reduction.

    Mark-
We will tape the seminar and it will be presented as a series of webinars. I’m not sure about the DVD, but I’m pretty certain we will bring this to the east coast.

This is going to be awesome. Looking forward to it Robb.

Robb – very important topic for me because my daughter has Type 1.

When I went to your nutrition cert at CrossFit Fairfax in May I wanted to ask more questions about this but, as always, you cant ask everything, right? Any other recommended reads for controlling Type 1 besides Bernstein’s ketogenic diet? Your book…perhaps?!

Hope the thoughts of suicide go down as the hours pass!

    Hi Robb,
I was wondering how different this seminar will be from your Nutrition Cert. Will it be geared towards a certain audience with a working knowledge of paleo or the general public? How is it related to Paleo Brand Foods–will you be promoting it to find vendors/customers? Any more helpful information you could provide would be…helpful :) I would love to listen to you, Dr. Cordain, and John Welbourn speak! Thank you!

A lot of the Paleo Brands website doesn’t seem to work, at least for me. Is this website going to be updated with Paleo diet and nutrition info or is it meant more as a placeholder for seminar dates and registration?

    Blake-
The site is in process! We will have much more content in the immediate future.

    Kristy-
Prof. Cordain will talk about the latest research in paleo nutrition and have a Q & A section. My talk will focus on clinical successes we have had with a paleo diet approach (you will be familiar with some of this from my CF nutrition cert) and I will also talk about the genetic/epigenetic considerations of a diet in congruence with our heritage. John Welbourn will cover some of his successes with crossfit football and a paleo+dairy nutritional approach.

Paleo brands will be discussed in that we hope to bring top quality food to everyone. I mean everyone. it shoould be a super fun and informative day.

    Rob,

When you head east I know just the box that would love to host and cater the event (;->), might even have a protein-nerd there that would love to chip in a word or two about sources/synthesis/timing.

    cheers,

    Chef

    Robb,

You should definitely consider a webinar, incorporating talking heads, PPT, live quizzes and live Q and A, using a platform such as Webex or one of it’s many competitors.

In my experience this approach works in continuing professional education in many fields and is usually profitable for the provider, as it allows you, at limited additional cost, to reach geographic, budget and time constrained participants, as long as the audience is prepared to part with a reasonable fee.
