The Road Forager: Mat Lalonde Reporting

Mat shot me this write-up of one of his favorite places to shop in the Cambridge area. I’m ready for Boston Nutrition cert part deux!

The Savenor family operates two excellent stores where one can find grass-fed beef, poultry, seafood, wild game and gourmet groceries. The shops are located at 160 Charles Street in Boston and at 92 Kirkland Street in Cambridge.

I visit the shop in Cambridge on a weekly basis. Patrons are greeted by a beautiful array of fruits and vegetables upon entering the shop.

I tend to skip that and head straight to the wild game section. Kobe beef, grass-fed beef, llama, bison, yak, kangaroo, wild boar, bear, and a variety of other interesting meats can be found year round. My favorite products in this section is the wild boar bacon.

After picking a few items from the wild game section, I scoot over to the sausages. My favorite product here is the lamb sausage with apricots.

The seafood and poultry sections are next. My favorites here are the artic char fillets, duck eggs, and muscovy duck legs.

This week, I ended up purchasing duck eggs, sirloin steak tips from grass-fed animals (US Wellness meats), lamb sausage with apricots, and muscovy duck legs. The lamb sausage (or wild boar bacon) make an excellent breakfast when paired with the duck eggs and some greens.

Lam sausages with apricots..you big girls blouse.

You’re like that awful and camper than a row of tents Nancy Boy Fellows and the even more absurd and idiotic Justin De Quim.

Am being a real man in Derbyshire and cooking all in lard as befits my Yorkshire heritage.

Edify yourselves with these and please listen to the lyrics..very paleolithic..in a way anyways

Oh to have that level of choice here in the UK!

It would make things a lot easier for me and many of my clients! Think yourself lucky.
