Chicago is Awesome!! Thank to Rudy for inviting us out, thanks to his friend Ben for hosting the cert at his dance studio (I have never lectured under a disco-ball before) and especially thank you to all the attendees. Great questions and phenomenal energy!

A big, deep and sincere thank you to Robb, Nicki (hope i spelled that right), Rudy, Ben and Dutch for making the experience available. I will be realizing the benefit from this exposure for years to come. That includes the Jewel grocery store restroom……lol
If you guys ever find yourselves in MN feel free to contact me for any help you may need.
Best,

Robb,
The lecture was awesome. It exceeded my expectations. I have 2 questions that I forgot to ask.
1. We talked about PWO carb intake and how insulin is not needed to transport CHO into muscles after training. But, does this CHO intake still casue the release of insulin?
2. What about “cheating”. How often a week? Any cheating pearls?
Lasty, you (and others) shared many inspirational stories about the effects training and good nutrition have had on a lot of “disease” states. Can you guys all write these up? The CrossFit Journal is evolving and it would be a great place to get this information out there.
Thank you again,
Pat
Pat!
Thanks for the kind words! Great crowd in Chicago…really makes the energy of the day better!
1-Yes, still releases insulin, but it should be less than otherwise AND you get better nutrient partitioning…carbs store in muscle, not fat ideally!
2-Just stay gluten free! Stay pretty tight 5 days out of 7, kick up your heels when it happens…I hate the term “cheat meal”…just make it roll into your normal eating.
Regarding the disease issues: The Crossfit Journal has largely been uninterested in my writing…it’s been categorized as “overly professorial”. Interesting considering the number of folks who report dramatic health improvements with a paleo approach. So, things get written up here, for free…the paleodiet news letter is an amazing resource as well.
Awesome Cert Robb. You have expanded my knowledge on nutrition and given me more readings and areas too look in than i ever imagined. I look forward to reading and learning more. I appreciate the time you take to research and educate on this topic. I think your campaign is going to breakthrough and reveal how stupid some of the policies and practices are that exist today. I can’t wait to read your book and get one for everyone I know.
I know that there are lots of people up here in Canada looking forward to your visit in the fall.
Thanks for a great cert!
